Prajwal Revanna convicted in rape case, former JDS MP cries in court after hearing judge's verdict

The court has convicted former Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna in the rape case. The court will announce the sentence tomorrow i.e. on August 2. On hearing the court's verdict, Revanna became emotional in the court and started crying. This verdict has been given by the special court constituted to hear cases related to elected public representatives in Bengaluru.

After being convicted in the rape case, Prajwal Revanna became emotional in the court and started crying bitterly. He kept crying even while coming out of the court after hearing the verdict. This verdict has been given just 14 months after the FIR was registered.

Saree presented as evidence

Meanwhile saree was presented in the court as an evidence in the rape case registered against Revanna. It is alleged that the former MP raped the domestic help not once but twice. The victim also recorded the video of the incident and she also had that saree with her, which she kept as evidence. During investigation, sperm marks were found on that saree, which made the case even stronger. This saree was presented in the court as conclusive evidence.

Charges were proved against Prajwal Revanna under several sections of the Indian Penal Code and the IT Act. While the court will announce the quantum of sentence tomorrow.

Investigation team collected 123 evidences

The rape case against Prajwal Revanna was registered at the CID Cyber Crime Police Station on the complaint of a domestic help of KR Nagar in Mysuru. It is alleged that the former MP raped the victim and also recorded a video of that act. This high profile case was investigated by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the CID, which filed a charge sheet of about 2,000 pages. During the investigation, the team collected a total of 123 evidences.

Trial completed in seven months

The hearing of this case started on 31 December 2024, in which the court recorded the testimony of 23 witnesses. Apart from this, the court also reviewed the forensic report of the video clips and the inspection reports of the spot. The trial was completed in just seven months and after hearing the arguments of both the sides, Special Judge Santosh Gajanan Bhatt had reserved his decision.
