Preparations underway to take action against hoax callers, will not be able to travel by plane
The Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu said that making hoax calls to airline companies will now be put in the category of cognizable offence. For some time now, many airline companies have been made such false phone calls about bombs being placed in aircraft, after which this step is being taken.
Meanwhile in the last one week, more than 70 threats have been received about bombs being placed in flights. Aviation companies have suffered heavy losses due to these false threats. Now the Union Minister has taken a tough stand on these matters.
Making hoax calls a offence now
However during the press briefing, Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu described it as a very sensitive situation and said that those making such hoax calls will be put on the no-fly list of airline companies.
Naidu said that we are repeatedly receiving such hoax calls. We have held meetings at every level. After these meetings, we have come to the conclusion that we need to amend the rules.

The Union Aviation said that, we are preparing to amend the SUASCA Act. We are also discussing this with other ministries. We want to bring this under the category of cognizable offence. Also, we will not compromise with the safety of passengers in any way. We are currently assessing the situation because this is a very sensitive matter.

After the hoax call about bombs being placed in planes, a high-level meeting was held in the Union Home Ministry. The Home Secretary took detailed information on the threat call from the DG of CISF and DG of BCAS. In this meeting, BCAS DG and CISF gave details of the investigation so far.
More than 100 airlines have received threats in the last five days. According to sources, most of the threat calls are coming from abroad.
