President Droupadi Murmu gets new voter ID Card
President Droupadi Murmu, on Tuesday, marked a significant electoral shift as she received a newly issued voter card with an updated address from Delhi Chief Electoral Officer P Krishnamurthy at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. The official statement confirmed that Murmu, having successfully updated her voter registration details, is now eligible to exercise her voting rights in the upcoming elections within the New Delhi district.
The statement released by the CEO office highlighted the procedural aspects of the address change, emphasizing that this move aligns President Murmu's voting eligibility with her current residence in New Delhi. Her previous voter card, which bore an address from Mayurbhanj, Odisha, has now been replaced with an updated version reflecting her new Delhi address.
During Krishnamurthy's visit to the Rashtrapati Bhavan, he reportedly briefed President Murmu on the ongoing special summary revision of electoral rolls in Delhi. This initiative is a part of the electoral authorities' efforts to ensure accuracy and currency in the voter registration process.
The significance of the Chief Electoral Officer's visit earlier in the month was underscored, as it aimed to facilitate the seamless transition of President Murmu's voter card details to her present place of residence. This development underscores the commitment to maintaining an updated and accurate electoral database, ensuring that citizens can actively participate in the democratic process from their current locations.
