In a tragic incident on Thursday, a private plane crashed on runaway at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport. The plane carrying 8 people on board crashed amid heavy pouring rain. All 8 people are injured in the accident along with the crew members. The injured are taken to the nearby hospital for treatment.

According to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), the plane crashed by skidding as a consequences of poor visibility caused by heavy rain.

The aircraft was flying from Vishakhapatnam to Mumbai when the accident took place around 5pm. The plane was a mid size jet named Learjet 45 VT-DBL operated by VSR Ventures.

6 Passengers along with 2 crew members are injured and are currently treated in Criticare Asia Hospital in Andheri East. The passengers onboard were  Dhruv Kotak, Lars Sorensen, KK Krishnadas, Aakarsh Sethi, Arul Sali and Kamakshi. The flight was operated by pilots named Sunil and Neil.

The Mumbai airport was temporarily closed to facilitate an inspection. Subsequently, following the completion of all safety checks and clearance from DGCA, it was reopened at 06:47 pm. Debris

The removal of debris in close proximity to the runway has been ensured for unobstructed operations. Several flights experienced delays or diversions following the jet crash incident. According to a flight tracking website, all flights destined for Mumbai were either redirected to alternate cities or were circling in a holding pattern within the airspace.
