Pune land deal scam: Sub-registrar to blame for registering sale deed, Parth Pawar's name omitted
Pune land deal scam: The investigation report into the controversial ₹300 crore land deal in Maharashtra has finally been released. A three-member committee of the Joint Inspector General of Registration (IGR) has held three individuals, including Sub-Registrar Ravindra Taru, responsible for the alleged sale of government land in Mundhwa, Pune, to a private company and the granting of a substantial stamp duty discount. The government has also issued a notice to the company concerned seeking a response within seven days for the recovery of ₹42 crore in stamp duty.
The three-member committee, headed by Joint Inspector General of Police (IGR) Rajendra Munthe, submitted its report to Inspector General of Police (IGR) Ravindra Binwade, who then forwarded it to Pune Divisional Commissioner Chandrakant Pulkundwar.
The report stated that Parth Pawar's name did not appear in any of the documents, so he was not held responsible. A senior official told the news agency, "Since Parth Pawar's name does not appear anywhere in the entire sale deed, he cannot be held responsible in the investigation." The report holds three people directly involved in the deal responsible, including suspended Sub-Registrar Ravindra Taru.
Who Were Indicted?
The three people named in the report are Ravindra Taru, the Sub-Registrar (suspended), Digvijay Patil, Parth Pawar's partner and relative, and Sheetal Tejwani, the power of attorney holder on behalf of the sellers. All three are already accused in the FIR filed by the police.
How was the government land sold?
This 40-acre land is located in the posh area of Mundhwa. The land was government land and could not be sold. Despite this, it was sold to Amadia Enterprises LLP, in which Parth Pawar is a partner. The report also states that the company was wrongly granted a stamp duty exemption of ₹21 crore.
Other investigation reports will also be forthcoming.
Reports from the Revenue Department and the Settlement Commissioner are also being prepared. All three reports will be sent to Additional Chief Secretary (Revenue) Vikas Kharge. He heads the six-member committee formed by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to investigate the matter. The government has already cancelled the deal.
