Punjab: 14 people died after drinking poisonous liquor in Amritsar
Punjab: 14 people have died after drinking poisonous liquor in Majitha area of Amritsar, while 6 people are admitted to the hospital in critical condition. According to Amritsar Police, a case has been registered in this regard at Majitha police station and further action is being taken.
The incident is said to have happened on Monday (May 12) night. At present, the police team is investigating the source of the liquor. Initial investigation has revealed that this liquor was purchased from the same place on Sunday (May 11) evening.
Some of these people died on Monday morning itself, but the police did not get the information.
Police will take strict action
Amritsar Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sahni has informed that 14 people have died so far in the poisonous liquor case. She said, "We have been given permission by the Punjab government to take action against such people.

Accused supplier arrested in poisonous liquor case
Amritsar Deputy Commissioner further said, "All the suppliers of poisonous liquor and those who were involved in it have been arrested. 6 people are admitted in the hospital. The effect of poisonous liquor has been seen in 5 villages.
It is suspected that all these people have bought liquor from the same supplier and the same place. Full assistance is being given by the government."
Medical team is investigating
Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sahni also told news agency ANI that she was informed about this incident on Monday night. Our medical team is examining the people. Whoever has consumed alcohol is being sent to the hospital.

Kingpin supplier arrested
SSP Amritsar Maninder Singh has informed news agency, that the police received information at around 9:30 pm on Monday night that people are dying due to consumption of spurious liquor. Immediate action was taken and 4 people were detained. These include the main supplier Parbjit Singh.
ASP Maninder Singh said, "We interrogated him and found out about the kingpin supplier Sahab Singh. We have also taken him into custody. We are investigating from which companies he has bought this liquor."
