Rajasthan: A major accident occurred in Rajasthan's Jaisalmer district on Tuesday afternoon. A bus traveling from Jaisalmer to Jodhpur suddenly caught fire, leaving at least 10 to 12 people, including three children and four women, with severe burns and feared dead. The accident occurred around 3:30 p.m. near Thaiyat village, about 20 kilometers from Jaisalmer.

Smoke was seen rising from the rear of the bus.

According to eyewitnesses, the bus had left Jaisalmer at around 3 pm with 57 passengers. As soon as it crossed the village of Thayat, smoke was seen rising from the rear of the bus, and within moments, the entire bus was engulfed in flames. Passengers screamed and screamed. Many managed to escape through the windows and doors.

Prithvipal Singh Rathore, firefighter and assistant fire officer of the Municipal Council, said that the fire brigade team reached the spot within about 10 minutes of receiving information, but by then the bus had completely burned to ashes. He said, "When we arrived, we couldn't find anyone alive. It's estimated that around 10 to 12 people were still inside the bus."

All the injured were transported to Jawahar Hospital, Jaisalmer, in three ambulances with the help of locals and police. Those with severe burns were referred to Jodhpur after first aid.

Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said, "We have received disturbing news of numerous casualties due to a massive fire on a bus traveling from Jaisalmer to Jodhpur. I pray to God that this accident minimizes casualties and that the injured recover quickly."

Seriously injured Imamat (30) and her son have also been sent to Jodhpur. Soldiers from a nearby army base also arrived at the scene and assisted in rescue and firefighting operations.
