The Meteorological Department has issued orange alert for 6 districts and yellow alert for 13 districts.

The Meteorological Department issues alert of different colors to indicate the effect of heat. This color-coding system indicates how much precaution is needed to avoid the effects of the weather. For this, three types of alerts are issued. Red, Orange and Yellow.

What is the meaning of red, orange and yellow alert?

Yellow Alert:   It is considered the first warning of weather danger. If the Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert, it means that the situation may worsen. Ethough there is no immediate danger, but you are need to be cautious. In summer, this alert is issued for those states where the temperature is likely to go up to 35 to 40 degrees. The cities for which yellow alert has been issued need to be cautious to face the effects of heat.

Orange Alert: This is the second level alert. Orange alert is more serious than yellow. For this, it is feared that the weather may worsen. This alert is issued when the temperature is likely to go up to 43 to 45 degrees Celsius. Therefore, there is a need to be alert. While the IMD has issued an orange alert for 6 districts of the country.

Red Alert:  Compared to both the alerts, this is considered the most serious alert. Red alert means that there is a very high possibility of the weather getting bad. People may be in danger of life. Red alert is issued when there is a possibility of the temperature going above 45 degrees. Or there is a possibility of a severe heatwave. This alert means avoid going out. Stay at home.

Whatever the alert is, keep these 5 things in mind

1.If any of these three alerts related to summer season are issued, it means avoid direct sunlight. It can cause harm in many ways.

2.It is advisable to wear light colored cotton clothes in summer season. Keep in mind that the clothes should be loose and comfortable.

3.The effect of increasing temperature is seen on the whole body, but direct sunlight on the head causes many dangers. Therefore, do not go out without covering the head. For this, use a cotton scarf, cap or umbrella.

4.Drink 3-4 liters of water daily in summer. If the temperature is crossing 40 degrees, then include ORS or homemade drinks like lassi, buttermilk, lemonade in your diet so that the body remains cool.

5.Avoid going out in the afternoon. Complete important work in the morning and evening. Stay in the coolest part of the house. If you feel excessive fatigue or lethargy or if you notice any changes in the body, then contact the doctor immediately.
