  • Savitribai Phule was born on January 3, 1831, in Naigaon village of Maharashtra, and was the eldest daughter of her parents. 
  • At the age of 9, she was married to Jyotirao Phule, who was thirteen years old at the time and one of the most famous social reformers of Maharashtra.
  • Savitribai is known as the country’s first revolutionary feminist, who learned reading and writing, which was against a revolutionary task in itself during these timess, After learning these skills, she began teaching girls in Maharwada in Pune.
  • Savitribai and Jyotirao Phule started India’s first school for girls at Bhide Wada in 1848. The curriculum included mathematics, science, and social studies and was based on western education.
  •  It was in 1852, the British government acknowledged the great work of the Phule family in the field of education and honored Savitribai by naming her the best teacher.

  •  Savitribai Phule wrote two books, Kavya Phule in 1854 and Bavan Kashi Subodh Ratnakar in 1892, which are collections of her poems.
  •  Savitribai and her husband, who had no children of their own, adopted a boy named Yashwantrao.
