Sameer Wankhede has filed a defamation suit in the Delhi High Court. The petition is filed against Shah Rukh Khan and his wife Gauri Khan's company, Red Chillies Entertainment Pvt. Ltd., and the OTT platform Netflix. In his complaint, Wankhede alleges that attempts are being made to tarnish his image.
Samir Makes Serious Allegations
According to reports, Sameer alleges that the web series "Bads of Bollywood," currently streaming on Netflix, is based on false and malicious material. In his complaint, Sameer alleges that the series portrays anti-narcotics agencies in a misleading and negative light, potentially eroding public trust in law enforcement. Sameer Wankhede stated that the series was deliberately created to tarnish his reputation, while the Aryan Khan case involving him is still pending in the Bombay High Court and the NDPS Special Court in Mumbai.
Allegations of insulting the national symbol
Wankhede also alleged that a character in the series makes an obscene gesture after chanting "Satyamev Jayate." This constitutes an insult to the national symbol and a violation of the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971, which carries punishable provisions. Furthermore, the content of the series violates several sections of the IT Act and the Indian Penal Code (BNS), as it contains obscene and objectionable scenes that hurt national sentiments. In his petition, Sameer has sought damages of ₹2 crore (20 million rupees) and has pledged to donate this amount to the Tata Memorial Cancer Hospital for the treatment of cancer patients.
