Saurabh Bharadwaj of AAP alleges consequences for BJP critics, cites Mahua Moitra's expulsion as example
The removal of Trinamool Congress leader Mahua Moitra from the Lok Sabha has triggered strong reactions from opposition figures, with Delhi Minister and AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj condemning the BJP-led Central government. Bharadwaj asserted that the government tends to favor positive feedback, emphasizing that those who speak against the BJP face repercussions.

"Anyone who speaks against BJP faces consequences, while those speaking favorably face no repercussions; this is a well-known fact," stated the AAP leader.
Bharadwaj highlighted that individuals questioning the government are often targeted by the Central Government and associated agencies. He pointed out the cessation of funding for organizations revealing truths about the government as evidence of this trend.
Emphasizing the importance of holding the government accountable through questions, Bharadwaj expressed concerns about the potential harm to the nation's well-being due to stifling dissent.
"The government seems to only want to hear positive things about itself. If questions are not asked, it will be a loss for the people of the country," he added.
Bharadwaj contended that the people of the nation rely on representatives to ask questions on their behalf, and dismissing the legitimacy of sourced questions does not make sense.
Sanjay Singh and Mahua Moitra, according to the AAP leader, are among those targeted by the central government and associated agencies for questioning the government.
Mahua Moitra, facing allegations of breaching a non-existent code of ethics, questioned the Ethics Committee's findings, claiming a lack of fair process in her expulsion. She highlighted contradictions between testimonies and expressed dissatisfaction with the denial of her right to cross-examine witnesses.
The Ethics Committee recommended Mahua Moitra's expulsion, citing "serious misdemeanors," and called for a time-bound inquiry by the central government. Speaker Om Birla endorsed the committee's conclusions, leading to Moitra's expulsion from the 17th Lok Sabha.
