PM Modi's visit to China has become even more important in view of the sudden deterioration in India-US relations due to Donald Trump's tariff policies.

SCO summit in China: World's eyes are on the two-day SCO summit starting today in Tianjin, China. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin will be together on the SCO platform. PM Modi's visit to China has become even more important in view of the sudden deterioration in India-US relations due to Donald Trump's tariff policies.

SCO summit starting today in Tianjin, China

Prime Minister Modi has come to China mainly to attend the annual summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) on 31 August and 1 September. Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in China on Saturday after a gap of more than seven years. He last visited China in 2018 to attend the SCO summit.

Chinese President came to India in 2010

After this 2018 SCO summit, President Jinping of China came to India in October 2019 for the second "informal summit". But after the clash between Indian and Chinese soldiers in the Galwan Valley in June 2020, there was tension in the relations between the two countries. Efforts were being made by both the countries to remove this tension. In this connection, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi recently visited India.

America has imposed tariff on India-China

Let us tell you here that Trump has imposed tariff on India and China, while on the other hand, many sanctions have also been imposed on Russia. Shortly after reaching Tianjin, Modi received a call from Ukrainian President Zelensky. PM Modi is scheduled to have extensive talks with Putin during the summit in this Chinese city on Monday and the Ukraine conflict is expected to be one of the key topics of this conversation.

What PM Modi will discuss with Xi Jinping today

Today Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to have a bilateral meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping. This meeting is also important because both India and China are looking to strengthen their bilateral relations amid tensions in global trade due to Trump's tariff policy.

Prime Minister Modi spoke to Zelensky before meeting Putin

During this, PM Modi told Zelensky that India supports all efforts to end the war in Ukraine. Zelensky had told the Prime Minister Modi that the war should end. Later PM wrote on social media platform  X - "Thank you President Zelensky for his phone call. We discussed the ongoing conflict, its humanitarian aspect and efforts to restore peace and stability.

PM Modi's visit will inject new momentum into China-India ties: Chinese ambassador to India

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who arrived in China for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit, was given a warm welcome in Tianjin on Saturday. I am confident that this visit will inject new momentum into China-India ties," Xu posted on X.
