Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami recently missed out on a national team once again. He has not been included in the squad for the Australia tour, which begins on October 19th.

The 35-year-old Shami last represented Team India in the 2025 Champions Trophy. He has been struggling with fitness issues. However, he remains active in the IPL and Bengal domestic cricket.

Now, after not being selected for Team India, Shami broke his silence in a video on his YouTube channel, offering clarification. He said, "People want to know what my opinion is on not being selected for the Australia series. I'll just say that selection is not in my hands; it's the selection committee, coach, and captain's job.

If they feel I deserve to be in the team, they will select me, or if they feel I need more time, that's their decision. I'm ready and practicing."

Actually, a few days ago, Mohammed Shami requested fans to ask questions on Instagram. In response, fans sent him many fun and interesting questions. After that, Shami openly expressed his views on his YouTube channel.

Shami further said, "My fitness is also good. I will try to improve because when you're away from the field, you need to stay motivated. I played in the Duleep Trophy, felt very comfortable, my rhythm was good, and I bowled around 35 overs. There are no problems with my fitness."

Bengal's squad for the upcoming Ranji Trophy season has been announced. Abhimanyu Easwaran has once again been given the reins of the team. He was removed from Bengal's captaincy during the 2022–23 season due to poor form and India A commitments. A top-order batsman, he has been a reserve in the Indian Test team for the past three years, but has yet to make his debut.
