Shivraj Singh Chauhan turns to Mahakal for Rain

On Sunday, Shivraj Singh Chauhan visited the famous Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain to pray for rain the state.

Madhya Pradesh has received less than the required rain in this season. This is caused sever dry situation close to drought. The Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan performed Maharudra Anushthan to impress the Bhagwan Mahakal to bless Madhya Pradesh with rain.

He thought of farmers whose  livelihood is dependent on rain to grow crops while performing the ritual.

Mahakal is one of the most important and famous temples of Shiv JI. Previously even celebrities have also visited the temple to seek blessings. After taking account of the situation, Shivraj Singh Chauhan held an emergency meeting with officials and ministers to decide the further path.

MP has enough rainfall in the month of July, therefore gates of dams were opened assuming, August would bring enough rainfall as well. But the situation turned out opposite. Farmers have to now to depend on underground water using Tubewell pumps which also costs electricity. Amid drought, the state is also facing difficulty to fulfill electricity demand. Electricity demand usually amounts to 8000-9000MW but during this time, since irrigation is also depended on electricity the demand has shot up to 15000MW. This demand has also led to electricity cut.

The Chief Minister performed Maharudra Anushthan in the presence of 66 Brahmins. This Anushthan includes chanting the Rudra Mantra 1331 times.

These kinds of practices are common in Sanatan. Often times Hawans and Yagyas are perform to gai the attention of particular God Goddess to seek blessings.

After the Pooja, now the whole of Madhya Pradesh waits for Mahakal to shower them with blessings in the form of rain and provide relief to farmers.
