Shoes thrown during Ravana Dahan at JNU, uproar over photos of Umar and Sharjeel on effigy
Ravana Dahan at JNU: A massive uproar erupted during the Ravana Dahan at Delhi's Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). The ABVP alleges that left-leaning students threw shoes during the Ravana Dahan and disrupted the event. ABVP leader Praveen Kumar said that left-leaning organizations are deliberately creating unrest. In fact, the 10 heads of the Ravana effigy that was burned had photos of several people, including Umar Khalid and Sharjeel Imam, accused of plotting the Delhi riots.
The controversy escalated when images of Umar Khalid and Sharjeel Imam, whose cases are pending in court, were placed on the effigy of Ravana.

Shoes thrown during Ravana Dahan at JNU
Meanwhile, the JNU Students' Union (JNUSU) issued a statement accusing the ABVP of exploiting religion for political gain. The JNUSU stated that the ABVP displayed the faces of former JNU students Umar Khalid and Sharjeel Imam as Ravana during the Ravana Dahan ceremony, even though both have been in jail for the past five years and are still facing trial.
The JNUSU questioned how the ABVP could publicly blame Umar and Sharjeel while the case is pending in court. JNUSU stated that intellectuals and human rights activists from India and abroad have also expressed concern about these matters.
JNUSU made serious allegations.
JNUSU asked that if the ABVP truly cares about the nation, why did it not display Nathuram Godse's face as Ravana? Did they not consider him a terrorist? The ASU also questioned why Ram Rahim, who is guilty of rape and murder, was not depicted.
Will not tolerate cultural aggression: ABVP student leader.
ABVP student leader Mayank Panchal said that the JNU environment has always been rich in diversity and festivity. For 10 days, students participated in the worship of Goddess Durga, further enhancing the cultural beauty of the university. However, left-wing student organizations tarnished this sacred event with violence and hatred. This is not just an attack on a religious event, but a direct attack on the university's festive tradition and the faith of the students. The ABVP will not tolerate such cultural aggression at any cost.

This is an attack on the university's brotherhood
JNUSU Joint Secretary Vaibhav Meena said that the violence committed by left-wing students during the procession today, even pelting stones at female students, proves their deep hatred for Indian culture and Hindu traditions.
Summary
This is not just an attack on students, but a direct attack on the cultural harmony and brotherhood of the university. Unfortunately, the organizations that call themselves progressive are the ones that most disrespect festivals and Indian values. JNUSU strongly condemns this incident and demands immediate and strict action from the administration to restore peace and cultural harmony.
