Sonam Wangchuk on Fast to "SAVE LADAKH" at 20 degrees
<p>Sonam Wangchuk, a social reformist from Ladakh has always been seen putting his thoughts forward for his region. He has been quite outspoken about the problems faced by the people of Leh-Ladakh. Through his channel on Youtube, many times he has come up with issues that need to be looked forward to and worked upon.Once again, Sonam Wanchuk has come up with the ongoing issues faced in Ladakh. This time he has directly appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the problems. Once again, Sonam Wanchuk has come up with the ongoing issues faced in Ladakh. This time he has directly appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the problems. He has posted 3 videos related to “ALL IS NOT WELL IN LADAKH” addressing the Prime Minister in one of the videos to look into the matter of their region.
In the video, the very first issue that he is talking about is the Constitutional safeguard of Ladakh under the 6th Schedule of the Indian Constitution. This is the major issue he wants to be highlighted and has urged the government to fulfill their demand.
The second issue that he mentioned is the environmental damage in Ladakh. He has urged the government to not allow industries and developmental projects to sunk in Ladakh. As the developmental projects will lead the glaciers of the region to melt and cause harm to the environment. He also said that the people of Ladakh live a simple life and if such development occurs their life would be affected badly.
To put his issues forehead, he sat on a five-day climate fast to “Save Ladakh” on the rooftop of the Himalayan Institute of Alternative Ladakh (HIAL) in Phyang on Thursday. His fight is still going on and he is getting full support from the people of Ladakh and people in India.
