Srinagar: A passenger attacked four SpiceJet employees and seriously injured them at the boarding gate of flight number SG-386 from Srinagar to Delhi. The employees were taken to the hospital for treatment.This attack took place at Srinagar airport. A SpiceJet spokesperson said that the passenger attacked SpiceJet employees with kicks and punches, which broke the spine of our employees and caused serious injuries to their jaws.

The SpiceJet spokesperson said that a there employee fell unconscious on the ground. Even though after falling unconscious, he  kept on kicking and punching that SpiceJet employee. A person who bent down to help the unconscious employee was kicked hard on the jaw and started bleeding from his nose and mouth. The employees are undergoing treatment in the hospital.

What is the reason for the fight?

The passenger who assaulted was a senior military officer. The spokesperson said that the passenger was carrying two cabin bags whose total weight was 16 kg, which was more than double the permissible limit of 7 kg. He said that when the passenger was asked to pay the applicable fee for the extra luggage, he refused and violated the aviation security protocol by forcefully entering the aerobridge without completing the boarding process.

He was taken back to the gate by a security guard. The SpiceJet official said that the behavior of the passenger became even more aggressive at the gate and he assaulted four members of ground staff of the airline.

Passenger was put on the no-flight list

In the meanwhile the airline spokesperson said that an FIR has been lodged with the police and the airline has now started the process of putting the passenger on the no-fly list as per the civil aviation rules. After this, the passenger will no longer be able to travel by flight. The official said that SpiceJet has written a letter to the Ministry of Civil Aviation and informed about the deadly attack on its employees.

Summary

The airline company has requested the Union aviation ministry to take appropriate action against the passenger. The SpiceJet has taken the CCTV video of this incident from the airport and handed it over to the police, so that further action can be taken.
