Sudden Stock Market Surge:  Trading on the stock market began sluggishly on the first trading day of the week. The Sensex and Nifty opened with a slight gain, but within an hour, their momentum changed and both began to surge. The 30-share Sensex on the Bombay Stock Exchange jumped more than 300 points, surpassing the 81,500 mark, while the National Stock Exchange's Nifty was trading around 100 points.

Amid this sudden surge, shares of Bajaj Finance, TCS, and Axis Bank were the fastest-growing large-cap stocks.

Sluggish Start, Then Rocket

As stock market trading began, the BSE Sensex opened at 81,274.79, a slight gain from its previous close of 81,207.17, and then traded sluggishly for some time. However, after an hour of trading, its momentum suddenly changed, jumping more than 300 points to 81,357. Like the Sensex, the NSE Nifty also followed suit. It opened at 24,916.55, a gain from its previous close of 24,894.25, and then surged to 24,989.95.

1,379 stocks open strongly

Amid mixed global cues, shares of approximately 1,379 companies opened with gains in the green zone at market opening on Monday, while stocks of 1,096 companies opened poorly, declining from their previous close and opening in the red zone. The positions of 258 stocks remained unchanged.

Max Health, Apollo Hospitals, Shriram Finance, Axis Bank, Bajaj Finance, and TCS were among the top gainers in early trading, while SBI Life Insurance, Tata Motors, Cipla, and Asian Paints declined.

Top 10 Fastest Gaining Stocks

Talking about the top 10 fastest-growing stocks during the day, among large-cap companies, Bajaj Finance (2%), Axis Bank (1.98%), and TCS (1.70%) were trading higher at the time of writing.

Summary

In addition, Fortis shares (6.95%), Nykaa shares (4.70%), Delhivery (4.40%), Emcure Pharma (3.50%), and Go-Digit shares (3.37%), all in the midcap category, were trading higher. Smallcap stocks like Orient Tech (18%) and KIOCL shares (11.81%) were also gaining.
