Super Tuesday: In a surprising turn of events, former UN ambassador Nikki Haley has decided to suspend her campaign for the Republican presidential nomination. This decision comes in the wake of ex-US President Donald Trump's significant triumph on Super Tuesday. Despite facing tough odds, Haley had been actively competing for the GOP presidential nomination until the information of her withdrawing her candidacy on Wednesday came out.
Trump and Biden dominate Super Tuesday races
Both Trump and current President Joe Biden emerged as dominant forces in the Super Tuesday polls, setting the stage for a potential November rematch. While Haley managed to secure a victory in Vermont, denting Trump's hopes of a clean sweep, he captured other key states, including Virginia, Massachusetts, and Maine.

Trump aims White House
With Haley stepping back, Trump stands as the last major candidate for the 2024 Republican nomination. The former president secured victories in the first 13 primary elections on Super Tuesday, encompassing crucial states like Texas and California. However, his chance at a complete sweep was disrupted by Haley's unexpected win in Vermont.
Trump, eyeing a comeback to the White House after being unseated by Democrat President Joe Biden in 2020, aims to accumulate a decisive haul of delegates in Tuesday's primaries on his path to securing the Republican Party nomination.
Notably, Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Colorado, California, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia were all called in favor of Trump by US networks. Trump expressed his gratitude on his Truth Social platform as counts continued in other Super Tuesday states.
Biden manages clean sweep
On the Democratic front, President Joe Biden secured victories in all 15 states, with a minor setback in the American Samoa territory, where he lost to little-known challenger Jason Palmer.
Meanwhile, in Minnesota, Biden faced a protest vote as approximately 20 percent of voters opted for the "uncommitted" option to express displeasure over his support for Israel's actions in Gaza.
Down-ballot races offered a glimpse into the upcoming general elections, with progressive candidates in California losing out to Democratic centrist Adam Schiff and Republican newcomer Steve Garvey for an open Senate seat. In Texas, a traditionally Republican stronghold, Trump's influence within the party was tested as candidates he endorsed struggled against establishment contenders.
