Taiwan sent forces in response to China ‘Live-Fire’ drills off Island
Tensions have once again increased between China and Taiwan. After China announced 'live fire' drills near Taiwan, the island country deployed its army on Wednesday. Taiwan's Defense Ministry has strongly condemned these exercises of China, calling them 'dangerous'.
China deployed 32 fighter jets
According to the Defense Ministry, China has deployed 32 military aircraft around Taiwan and started 'live fire' exercises about 40 nautical miles (74 km) south of the island. In view of this situation, Taiwan has instructed its navy, air force and army to remain alert, monitor and respond appropriately.
China considers democratically governed Taiwan as its territory, while Taiwan has been strongly rejecting such claims of Beijing. It says that only the people of Taiwan can decide its future and Beijing should respect this decision.
