Since December 6 is the anniversary of Babri Masjid demolition, security has been heightened at Shahi Eidgah in Mathura, following announcements by Hindu organizations about organizing religious programs at the site.

City Divided into Zones and Sectors

Security Arrangements: SP City Mathura, Martand Prakash Singh, disclosed that Mathura has been divided into two zones and seven sectors. Additional SP (ASP) oversees the zones, while Deputy SP manages the sectors. The security apparatus includes 2 Provincial Armed Constabulary (PACs) units and one paramilitary force company.

Deployment of Over 500 Police Officials

Police Presence: More than 500 civil police officials have been deployed at crucial checkpoints in the city. Stringent measures include intensive checking at hotels, parking lots, and public places near Shri Krishna's birthplace and Shahi Eidgah. The dog squad, Local Intelligence Unit (LIU), and bomb disposal squad are actively involved in security checks.

Restrictions and Aadhaar Verification

Traffic Restrictions: Reports indicate a ban on vehicles on roads leading to Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Shahi Eidgah starting tomorrow morning. Authorities are also verifying the Aadhaar cards of individuals heading towards Shahi Eidgah.

Hindu organizations observe December 6 as Shaurya Diwas (bravery day) to mark the demolition of the Babri Masjid in 1992, laying the metaphorical foundation stone of the Ram Mandir. The aftermath saw widespread violence, including the ransacking and destruction of Muslim residences in Ayodhya, leading to riots across the country and the loss of over 1,000 lives.

Long-standing Demands for Shahi Eidgah Removal

Controversial Site: Hindu groups have long demanded the removal of Shahi Eidgah near the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Temple, claiming that it occupies the actual birthplace of Lord Krishna. The 31st anniversary of the Babri Masjid demolition this year adds significance to the ongoing tensions surrounding the site.
