Today do-or-die day on Waqf Bill, number in favour of government with support of TDP-JDU
The Waqf Amendment Bill 2024 will be introduced in Lok Sabha today. BJP has prepared the pitch and all the parties of NDA including Nitish, Chandrababu Naidu have mobilised. Whips have also been issued for MPs. The government has also included the suggestions of the allies. Here, the opposition has also made a strategy to surround the government. The parties included in the India Alliance will oppose the Waqf Amendment Bill in Parliament.
Voting will take place today itself and it is believed that the Modi government can win today on the most important bill of its third term. However, there is a huge uproar over this bill.
Today do-or-die day on Waqf Bill
The opposition has also made it clear that it will raise its voice in the debate and voting. In such a situation, there is a possibility of a fierce confrontation from both sides. There will be a meeting of the Congress Parliamentary Party at 9:30 am. Sonia Gandhi, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi will also be present in it. There is a fierce battle over this bill.
The surprising thing is that Muslim leaders from both the ruling and opposition sides have different opinions about the bill. The Kerala Church body has urged all political parties to support the Waqf Amendment Bill. The Janata Muslim Committee of Delhi will celebrate if the bill is passed.
Discussion will start at 12 noon
Today the debate will start in the Lok Sabha from 12 noon. BJP has been given 4 hours to discuss the bill. NDA has been given a total time of 4 hours 40 minutes. Though eight hours have been allotted for discussion on the Waqf Amendment Bill.
However, the time can be extended as per the need. Speaker Om Birla will take a decision on this.
All NDA parties united
At the same time, NDA has issued a whip to all its Lok Sabha MPs to be present. Nitish Kumar, Chandrababu Naidu, Jitan Ram Manjhi, Chirag Paswan have announced to vote in support of the bill. The current session of Parliament i.e. the budget session is ending on Friday.
This bill was first introduced in the lower house in August last year, after which it was sent to the JPC.
These leaders will speak from BJP
Who will speak on behalf of BJP in the Lok Sabha? The party has finalized the names. The names include Jagadambika Pal, Anurag Thakur, Nishikant Dubey, Abhijit Gangopadhyay, Kamaljeet Sehrawat, Tejasvi Surya, Ravi Shankar Prasad.
NDA has sufficient numbers in the Lok Sabha
The NDA has sufficient numbers in the Lok Sabha to pass the bill. However, the support of allies TDP and JDU is necessary. All NDA allies including TDP, JDU, HAM and LJP (R) have issued whips to their MPs to be present in Parliament and support the bill.

While there are 542 members in the Lok Sabha.. All India Alliance has 235 MPs. If we add others, this number goes up to 249 only. Whereas the majority number is 272.
NDA has more numbers in Rajya Sabha
On the other hand, Rajya Sabha has a total of 245 members. NDA has 125 MPs. 9 seats are vacant. In such a situation, NDA needs the support of 118 MPs to pass the bill. That is, NDA has more numbers in Rajya Sabha. It is expected that after getting approval from Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha will consider passing this bill.
Bill will be presented at 12 noon
While presenting the bill last year, the government had sent it to the joint committee of both the houses. After the committee presented the report, the Union Cabinet approved some changes in the original bill based on the committee's recommendation.
Union Minority Minister Kiren Rijiju will present the bill at 12 noon, he will be the first speaker. After that Home Minister Amit Shah will take charge and speak on the Wakf Amendment Bill.

This bill will be introduced in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday. A total of 8 hours has been allotted for discussion. BJP speakers include Sudhanshu Trivedi, Radha Mohan Das Aggarwal, Brijlal, Medha Kulkarni, Bhagwat Karad.
Strategy of India Block and Congress
Congress MP KC Venugopal said, this bill is against the Constitution, so the entire opposition will oppose it and other like-minded parties will also join it. Shiv Sena (UBT) Rajya Sabha MP Priyanka Chaturvedi said, we will participate in the discussion and vote against the bill.

RJD will also vote against the government on the Waqf Amendment Bill. Whip issued for RJD MPs. MPs have been asked to be present in Parliament. The bill will be strongly opposed on the instructions of Lalu Prasad and Tejashwi Yadav
Kharge called it a divisive agenda
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said in a post on X, all opposition parties are united. We will work together on the floor of Parliament to defeat the unconstitutional and divisive agenda of the Modi government on the Waqf Amendment Bill.
