While the swearing-in ceremony is to be held on January 20, Trump is being sentenced in this case 10 days earlier. The sentence in this case will be pronounced at 8 pm according to Indian time. Judge Juan Marchan has ordered Trump to appear in court personally or virtually.

Despite many efforts of the newly elected President of America, Donald Trump, he will be sentenced in the Hush Money case today. While Trump is to take oath as the President of the country on January 20, his sentence is to be announced 10 days before the swearing-in ceremony.

However, Judge Juan Marchan, who is looking into the Hush Money case, has already indicated that Trump will not be sentenced to jail, nor will he be fined or probated.

What is the Hush Money case?

While this Hush Money case incident happened in the year 2016. In which Trump is allegedly accused of giving 1 lakh 30 thousand dollars to the adult star. Trump is accused of giving money to the adult star to keep quiet about their relationship. However, Trump has rejected these allegations.

What punishment will be given?

The biggest question right now is what punishment will be given to Trump, according to the law of America, such charges can have a possible punishment ranging from fine or probation to up to four years in prison, but the judge has already indicated that Trump will not be sentenced to jail, nor will he be fined and probated.

The judge wrote that the best option to punish Trump is what is called unconditional discharge. It ends a case without jail, fine or probation, but with unconditional discharge the accused is proven guilty.

Can Trump pardon himself after becoming president? The answer to this question is that Trump cannot pardon himself in this case. The president can only pardon federal crimes, but Trump has been convicted in a New York state court. That is why he cannot pardon himself in this case.

Trump's attempt to stop the sentence

In the hush money case, Trump had already said that all the allegations are false. After this, the President made every possible effort to stop the sentence. Even when New York Court Judge Juan Merchan announced that he would announce what punishment Trump would be given on January 10. After this, 2 days before the sentencing, Trump appealed to the Supreme Court to stop the sentence, but he also got a setback from the Supreme Court and his petition was rejected. Five out of 9 judges of the Supreme Court rejected Trump's petition to stop the sentence.

Convicted in 34 cases

Donald Trump was convicted in 34 serious cases of tampering with records in the month of May. Earlier Trump was to be sentenced on July 11, but the hearing was postponed twice. After this, the sentence in the hush money case was to be announced after the presidential election, but then Trump won the election and Judge Marchan put a hold to consider the hearing.

Donald Trump had appealed to Judge Marchan to cancel the entire case, but the judge rejected his appeal. For this, Trump will now be sentenced on January 10 at 9:30 am as per US time. Trump has been ordered to be present in the court for the hearing. In which he can appear personally or virtually as he wishes.
