U.S.-India strategic partnership has never been more dynamic says Antony Blinken
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken celebrated the ever-growing strategic partnership between India and the United States at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies as part of its Brzezinski Lecture Series.
Highlighting the dynamic nature of the bilateral partnership, Blinken emphasized the collaboration between the two nations on various fronts, including advanced semiconductors and defense cooperation.
"The U.S.-India strategic partnership has never been more dynamic, as we team up on everything from advanced semiconductors to defense cooperation," he stated.
Furthermore, Blinken delved into the significance of the QUAD (Quadrilateral Dialogue) alliance, emphasizing its role in addressing global challenges.
"We’ve elevated the Quad partnership with India, Japan, and Australia to deliver for our countries and the world on everything from manufacturing vaccines to strengthening maritime security to addressing climate challenges," Blinken noted.
The secretary also highlighted the recently announced India Middle East and Europe corridor which will achieve the goals of transportation, energy and technology. This corridor was announced on the first day of G20 Summit on 9 September by President Joe Biden and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with UAE's crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and EU leaders. This corridor aims to improve connectivity between ports of Asia with middle East and Europe.
"And just this past week at the G20, President Biden and Indian Prime Minister Modi announced another ambitious transportation, energy, and technology corridor that will connect the ports of Asia, the Middle East, and Europe," Blinken announced.
He further explained that Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, France, Germany, Italy, and the European Union would collaborate with the United States and India to boost clean energy production, digital connectivity, and enhance critical supply chains across the region.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his optimism regarding the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor, describing it as a symbol of cooperation, innovation, and shared progress. Prime Minister Modi said that this corridor will help in the development of Human civilization by developing infrastructure and increasing connectivity. PM Modi emphasized on the importance of enhanced connectivity between the regions.
This corridor is seen as an alternative to the Belt and Road Initiative of China which aims to connect China with Africa and rest of the Asia through land and sea routes.
