‘United the Kingdom’: Massive anti –immigration protest rocks London

‘United the Kingdom’: More than 1 lakh people took out a rally named 'Unite the Kingdom' in London on Saturday. It was led by anti-immigration leader Tommy Robinson. This anti-immigration rally is considered to be Britain's largest right-wing rally. There was a clash between protesters and police near London's White Hall, in which 26 policemen were injured, 4 are in critical condition.

There was a clash between the police and the protesters, many were injured. The pressure on the government to take strict action has increased.

More than 1 lakh people took to the streets of London

During the Unite the Kingdom March, a demonstration called Stand Up to Racism was going on in London's White Hall, in which 5,000 people were involved. The police was trying to keep the 5 thousand protesters gathered in White Hall away from the crowd of millions, when the clash took place.

Many policemen suffered broken teeth and noses and serious head injuries, 25 people involved in the violence have been arrested. The police is also identifying the rest of the people involved in the riot.

Reason for the protest

The protesters are raising their voice against illegal immigration in Britain. They demand that illegal immigrants be expelled from the country. This year more than 28 thousand migrants have reached Britain by boats via the English Channel. The people involved in the protest are against giving shelter to illegal immigrants.

Recently an Ethiopian immigrant sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl, which has further fueled people's anger. Government and police are accused of failing to crack down on illegal immigration.

Due to this demonstration, political discussions on immigration rules have again intensified. There is pressure on the government to take tough decisions to stop illegal immigration. Opposition parties can also make their own strategies on this issue.
