Restriction on Demonstrations and Activities

District Magistrate Sonika emphasized that, during the assembly session commencing on Monday, activities such as demonstrations by organizations and communities will be prohibited in the designated area. The imposition of Section 144 is a preventive measure to ensure a smooth and secure environment around the Vidhan Sabha.

Focus on Uniform Civil Code (UCC)

This assembly session holds particular significance as it will delve into discussions regarding the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC). The UCC proposes uniform civil laws applicable to all communities in the state, a matter of considerable importance and debate.

Cabinet Meeting and UCC Draft Approval

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami chaired a cabinet meeting on Saturday at the State Secretariat to deliberate on the draft report of the Uniform Civil Code. The crucial state-level meeting sought the approval of the Cabinet for the UCC draft report. Following approval, the government is set to present the UCC Bill in the Assembly on February 6.

Commitment to UCC Implementation

CM Dhami reaffirmed the government's commitment to introducing the UCC in Uttarakhand, aligning with a resolution adopted by the BJP. The UCC drafting committee, led by retired Supreme Court judge Ranjana Prakash Desai, submitted the draft to Chief Minister Dhami on Friday.

Social Media Announcement

CM Dhami took to his social media platform on Friday, describing it as an important day for the people of the state. #UCCInUttarakhand"

("Moving forward in the direction of implementing the Uniform Civil Code as per the resolution placed before the godlike people of Uttarakhand, the draft was received today from the committee formed for the purpose of preparing the UCC draft in Dehradun. A Uniform Civil Code bill will be introduced in the upcoming assembly session and will be implemented as a law as soon as possible. We have always been determined to provide equal rights to everyone in the state by realizing the vision of respected Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji "Ek Bharat-Shrestha Bharat" and today we are taking this resolution towards accomplishment through UCC. #UCCInUttarakhand)

UCC's Comprehensive Impact

The Uniform Civil Code aims to provide a legal framework for uniform laws governing marriage, divorce, land, property, and inheritance for all citizens, irrespective of their religious affiliations. Its passage will mark the fulfillment of a significant promise made by the BJP to the people of Uttarakhand in the lead-up to the 2022 Assembly polls.
