Vaishno Devi Tragedy: Manoj Sinha announced compensation to the families of the deceased

Jammu has been disrupted due to floods and landslides caused by heavy rains. 32 people have died and many have been injured due to landslide on Vaishno Devi Marg. The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir met the injured on Wednesday and announced compensation.   

Vaishno Devi Tragedy: Life in Jammu has been disrupted due to heavy rains, floods and landslides. Rivers are in spate due to continuous rain in the state. There is a scene of devastation everywhere. Low-lying areas are flooded. Sevral roads and bridges have been washed away do to this. Meanwhile 32 people have died due to landslide on Vaishno Devi temple route. Many people have been also injured in this accident. Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha reached Narayana Hospital of Shrine Board located at Kakriyal in Katra to know the condition of the injured in the accident on Vaishno Devi Marg. During this, he announced compensation.

Jammu has been disrupted due to floods and landslides

Manoj Sinha said, this accident happened after cloudburst on Vaishno Devi Marg yesterday. Many people lost their lives and many people were injured in this. Rescue operation is still going on. Shrine Board will give Rs 5 lakh to the families of all the deceased and Rs 4 lakh will be given by the Disaster Department of Jammu and Kashmir. Rs 9 lakh will be given to the family of each deceased.

Spoken to the Prime Minister some time ago

On the other hand, Jammu and Kashmir CM Omar Abdullah on Wednesday informed Prime Minister Modi about the situation arising due to heavy rains and floods in Jammu. CM said, I spoke to the Prime Minister some time ago. Made him aware of the situation. The Prime Minister Modi has assured that the central government will provide all possible help to the people of Valley.

Some relief due to stopping of rain

CM Abdullah said that there has been some relief due to stopping of rain on Wednesday. We have got relief due to stopping of rain today as compared to Tuesday. Water is decreasing in low-lying areas. Referring to the damage caused to the fourth bridge on the Tawi river in Jammu city during the 2014 floods, the CM said, I was telling the divisional commissioner that the bridge was damaged at the same place in 2014 as well.

We have to do something about this

He said, there is a danger on this side which we have not been able to understand properly. A team will have to be put to work to find out why there was damage on this side in 2014 and again today. Measures will have to be taken so that this does not happen again. Whenever there is heavy rain, houses located on the river bank will always be in danger.
