It is a hectic week for the President of China Xi Jinping. These string of visits form heads of states of countries from South America, Africa and South East Asia signify that China has set its priorities clear. These visits came at a time when China was already scheduled to participate in the G20 summit. Chinese President Xi Jinping was absent from the G20 Summit as e was getting ready to meet these heads of states and increase bilateral ties with these countries. as a pattern of behavior, it is seen that China only attends forums where it is has major say in the outcomes such as BRICS.

Chinese President Xi Jinping and Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro jointly announced on Wednesday that both countries have come closer in terms of bilateral ties as they term the current relationship as "all weather strategic partnership".  China is determined to support Venezuela in some of the serious problems faced by the country. Xi's government will support Venezuela for safeguarding national sovereignty, dignity and social stability as well as external interference.

Venezuela is a country struggling from the oil sanctions imposed by the United States of America. The country is also under great debt owing to China.  The new relationship comes with cooperation announced on several fronts such as education, technology and economic scene by signing agreements. The two countries will also cooperate on science, civil aviation, , healthcare, aerospace and trade.

President Maduro was impressed by China's progress and strength. The president also expressed has gratitude against the support and assistance provided by China in difficult times such as Covid-19 pandemic as well as during sanctions imposed by other countries.

Venezuela will be learning from the China's past actions to build special economic zones and increase cooperation on different sectors such as agriculture, investment, education, tourism. The president further spoke to support the Belt and Road Initiative of China along with other initiative such as Global Civilization Initiative.

The countries also agreed on the concept of opposing hegemony and unilateralism and agreed that it is necessary to work towards global peace, development, fairness, justice and democracy as said in article by Global Times.

These actions come as China is currently engaged in power struggle with USA with the ties between both the countries are deteriorating. The above values of peace, democracy and fairness are subjected to doubts when it comes to China.

Venezuela supporting the BRI is surely a matter of concern for India as India has continuously stood against the BRI as it challenges the sovereignty of India.  India has also come up with an alternative of the ambitious BRI by launching the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor at G20 with USA, France and several other countries.
