Voting continues for Delhi MCD by-elections, AAP-BJP contest in 12 wards
Voting for the by-elections for 12 Delhi Municipal Corporation wards began at 7:30 am. Voting will continue until 5:30 pm for all seats, with 51 candidates contesting. The by-election results will be declared on December 3. Following the Bharatiya Janata Party's impressive performance in the assembly elections held earlier this year, this election is witnessing a close contest between the Aam Aadmi Party and the BJP.

Delhi Municipal Corporation election
According to the Delhi State Election Commission, voting is taking place at 580 booths in 143 polling stations. By-elections are being held in Greater Kailash, Shalimar Bagh B, Ashok Vihar, Chandni Chowk, Chandni Mahal, Dichaon Kalan, Naraina, Sangam Vihar A, South Puri, Mundka, Vinod Nagar, and Dwarka B wards. Eleven seats fell vacant after councillors became MLAs. The Dwarka B seat fell vacant in 2024 when former councillor Kamaljeet Sehrawat won the Lok Sabha elections from the West Delhi seat.
26 Women Candidates in the Field
Of these 51 candidates, 26 are women. The BJP has fielded eight, the AAP six, and the Congress five. Of the 12 vacant wards, the BJP previously held nine seats, while the AAP held the Chandni Chowk, South Puri, and Chandni Mahal seats. Currently, the BJP has 116 councillors in the MCD, while the AAP has 98. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta's former ward is witnessing a close contest between Anita Jain of the BJP and Babita Ahlawat of the AAP.

The 12 municipal wards in Delhi where by-elections are being held include Dakshinpuri, Sangam Vihar-A, Greater Kailash, Vinod Nagar, Shalimar Bagh-B, Ashok Vihar, Chandni Mahal, Dwarka-B, Mundka, Naraina, and Dichaun Kalan.

Voting is underway for the by-elections in 12 Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) wards. After casting her vote at a polling station in Shalimar Bagh, a female voter said, "The people we vote for should take society forward. I also appeal to people to do whatever is in the best interest of society."
