Waqf Amendment Bill 2024 has been introduced in the Lok Sabha. Congress created a ruckus during this. While Union Home Minister Amit Shah hit back at the Congress. Union Minister Kiren Rijiju responded while introducing the bill.

Though central government is calling the Waqf Bill a corrective step in the interest of country Muslims, the opposition has come out in strong opposition. Opposition parties say that the bill is a violation of the Constitution and is against religious freedom.

Opposition will break this country: Amit Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that you (opposition) will break this country... Through this House, I want to tell the Muslims of the country that not a single non-Muslim will come to your Waqf. There is no such provision in this law.

But what will the Waqf Board and Waqf Council do?

Those who sell Waqf properties will be caught and thrown out, those who lease their properties for 100 years in the name of Waqf will be caught. The income of Waqf is decreasing, the income from which we have to do development for the minorities and take them forward, that money is being stolen. The Waqf Board and Council will catch it.

Interference in donated property

Home Minister Amit Shah said that it is a very big misconception that this Act will interfere in the religious conduct of Muslims and will interfere in the property donated by them. This misconception is being spread to create fear among the minorities for their vote bank.

Amit Shah speaking in Lok Sabha

Amit Shah said understand this clearly... there is no provision to include any non-Muslim among those managing religious institutions; we do not want to do that.

No non-Muslim will come into Waqf: Amit Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that the Waqf Act and Board came into force in 1995. All arguments about including non-Muslims are about interference in Waqf. First of all, no non-Muslim will come into Waqf.

'Khata na bahi, jo waqf kahe wahi sahi'

BJP MP Anurag Thakur said that the time has come to amend Waqf as it has become a den of atrocities and corruption. It is time to abolish and amend it. India needs freedom from the fear of Waqf because the Waqf law made under the rule of Congress meant 'Khata na bahi, jo waqf kahe wahi sahi'.

Mughal decree will not work in the country

During the discussion on the Waqf Bill, Anurag Thakur said that you have to decide whether to stay with Waqf or Baba Saheb's Constitution. This Waqf Bill is a clear message that Baba Saheb's Constitution will work here, not Mughal decree. This bill is going to cremate the politics of appeasement.

What did Arvind Sawant say?

Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Arvind Sawant said that I have come here to present my views on the Waqf Amendment Bill. I was also a member of the JPC. Unfortunately, there was no clause-by-clause discussion in the JPC till the end. Non-stakeholders were also called in the JPC.

We have always felt that there is a lot of difference between your words and actions. You do not want to do justice to anyone through this bill. Do not consider what you are doing as right. I think now you are only looking at the Bihar elections.

Our commitment towards Muslim and minority welfare

TDP MP Krishna Prasad Tenet, while supporting the bill, said that the role of TDP in shaping this bill reflects our commitment towards Muslim and minority welfare. Ensuring the welfare of minorities has always been the top priority since the formation of our party

Not a single amendment was accepted in JPC: Congress

Gaurav Gogoi said that not a single amendment of the opposition was accepted in the JPC. I have not seen such a JPC where not a single clause was discussed. What message do you want to give to the country with this amendment bill. You want to stain the community in which about two lakh Ulemas were martyred.
