The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted more snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir in the coming days. Due to the effect of Western Disturbance, light rain and hailstorm are expected in many plain states including Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh.
Due to dense fog and light rain in Delhi-NCR
Delhi and Noida received light rain today, which has further increased the cold. IMD issued an orange alert for Delhi and said that due to fog, visibility has come down to 200 meters. The minimum temperature in Delhi was recorded at 6 degrees Celsius, which is below normal. Along with the rain, flights were delayed, and train operations were disrupted at Indira Gandhi International Airport. Heavy fog and cold wave were also seen in Gurugram, Faridabad, and Greater Noida.
Weather condition in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan
The effect of severe cold and fog continues in many districts of Uttar Pradesh. Fog prevailed in cities like Kanpur, Lucknow, and Prayagraj during morning and evening hours. There are chances of rain in western UP, which may cause a drop in temperature. At the same time, there is a possibility of light rain and hailstorm in areas like Bikaner, Jaipur, and Kota in Rajasthan. The minimum temperature in the state has been recorded at 3.8 degrees.
Effect of cold in Bihar and Haryana-Punjab
Fog and cold wave were seen in cities like Patna, Darbhanga, and Bhagalpur in Bihar. According to the Meteorological Department, due to Western Disturbance, the sky will remain cloudy, and the temperature will drop. At the same time, rain alert has been issued in cities like Gurugram, Hisar, and Palwal in Haryana and Punjab. Transport services have been affected due to dense fog in these areas.

Rain alert in South India too
Light to moderate rain is expected in many parts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. Rain will continue for the next few days in other coastal areas including Chennai. Heavy rain is expected in Tirunelveli and Kanyakumari. RMC said that this rain is happening due to upper air circulation.
Cold wave wreaks havoc in Jammu and Kashmir
Due to cold wave in Jammu and Kashmir, the minimum temperature has reached 7.8 degrees below zero. Heavy snowfall is occurring in areas like Gulmarg and Pahalgam. The Meteorological Department has predicted light snowfall in high altitude areas. Apart from this, life is being affected due to fog and cold winds.
