Weather: Heavy rain and overflowing rivers... IMD issues red alert for these cities of UP
Weather: Apart from Uttarakhand-Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh is also facing heavy rains and floods these days. While the Ganga, Yamuna and Sharda rivers in Uttar Pradesh are overflowing. Although the water level has started decreasing now, but at many places they are still flowing above the danger mark. Along with this, the period of heavy rains is not taking the name of stopping. The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rain in many cities today i.e. on August 8.
Red alert for heavy rain in these districts
The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for heavy rain in many districts of UP including Lucknow, Ayodhya, Barabanki, Ghonda, Lakhimpur Kheri, Bahraich and Amethi. Due to this, all schools up to class 8 in the capital Lucknow have been closed. The District Magistrate of Lucknow has given instructions to close the school. Orders have also been issued for government aided private schools and schools of all boards in Lucknow.
Rivers flowing above the danger mark
As by the report of the State Flood Management on Wednesday, the Ganges remained above the danger mark at many places, including Kachla Bridge in Chhatnag and Phaphamau in Ghazipur, Prayagraj, Mirzapur and Varanasi. The river was rising at Kachla Bridge, while it was decreasing at Chhatnag and Phaphamau in Prayagraj and Varanasi. The Ghaghra river is also flowing above the danger mark at Ayodhya and Elgin Bridge in Barabanki.

Summary
The water level is continuously rising in Ayodhya, while it is stable at Elgin Bridge. It also reported that the Yamuna river in Naini, Prayagraj has crossed the red mark and is now receding. Meanwhile, the Rapti river flowing above the Rapti barrage in Bhinga and Shravasti is also approaching the danger mark. The water level of the Sharda river flowing above the danger mark in Palliakalan (Lakhimpur Kheri) has also started receding but today's rain may once again increase the trouble.
