Weather Report: IMD Warns Intense Very Heavy Rain Alert in 4 States for next 3 Days
Weather Report: Most parts of the country are receiving drizzle to heavy rain. In many states, clouds have camped from morning to evening. In such a situation, the knock of pre-monsoon is being felt in many places. The Meteorological Department (IMD) has released the latest weather update for 24 May 2025. According to the department, there is a possibility of heavy rain, thunderstorm, storm and heatwave in many states across the country.
Pressure formed in Arabian Sea
On May 23, a "well marked low pressure" system has formed near the South Konkan coast in the Arabian Sea. This system is slowly moving northwards and may turn into a depression in the next 24 hours. Due to this, torrential rain warning has been issued in the states of the west coast.

Severe Rainfall alert
Red and Orange Alert in Maharashtra: Orange alert has been issued in Mumbai, Thane and Palghar districts on 23 and 24 May, that is, there is a possibility of heavy rain, thunderstorm and strong winds.
A red alert i.e. a warning of very heavy rain has been issued in Raigad district on 24 May.
Thunderstorm and rain in Jharkhand till 29 May
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted thunderstorms and rain with strong winds in Jharkhand for the next few days. According to the Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature is likely to remain below normal at 31 to 37 degrees Celsius till May 29. Abhishek Anand, scientist at the Meteorological Center here, said, "There is a possibility of sporadic to widespread rainfall across the state. Along with light to moderate rain, heavy rain is also likely at some places. Thunderstorms and strong winds are also likely this week.
Several people died due to lightning
Adverse weather conditions have already caused huge damage this month, with several people killed by lightning. The victims included a 46-year-old CRPF officer.

Konkan and Goa: Very heavy rain till 23-25 May
Karnataka (coastal and interior parts): Heavy to very heavy rain till 24-27 May
Central Maharashtra: Heavy rain on 25 May
Ghat areas of Tamil Nadu: Torrential rain till 25-26 May
Kerala and Mahe: Extremely heavy rain till 24-26 May
Jharkhand, Lakshadweep, Uttarakhand, Marathwada: Rain likely in next 2-3 days
Effect of thunderstorms in North and Northeast India

There is a possibility of rain with thunderstorms and strong winds in Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal (coastal areas of Ganga Valley), Assam, Arunachal, Meghalaya, Chhattisgarh, Nagaland. Lightning, strong thunderstorms and light rain are also forecast in Uttarakhand, Himachal, Haryana, UP, Delhi, Punjab.
Hailstorms are also expected at some places on 24 May. Heatwave hits Rajasthan and Jammu.
Heatwave and hot nights will continue in Rajasthan (western and eastern parts) from 23-27 May. On the other hand, Jammu will be affected by intense heat from 23-26 May.
Monsoon will start soon in Kerala
The Meteorological Department has indicated that the southwest monsoon is likely to arrive in Kerala in the next 2 days. With this, the way for the onset of monsoon rains across the country seems to be clearing.
