Weather Update: The weather is changing a lot these days in many states across the country including Delhi-NCR. Cold wave continues in entire North India. The capital Delhi is covered in dense fog since this morning. Visibility has reached zero at some places. Some flights at Delhi's IGI Airport may also be affected. The Meteorological Department has predicted partly cloudy weather today.
Cold in Punjab and Haryana, light rain at some places
The cold wave continues in Punjab and Haryana and on Thursday it rained at some places in both the states. Dense fog is being seen in many areas of Punjab and Haryana since this morning. According to the Meteorological Department, there will be a slight change in temperature in the coming days. Fog may prevail on Friday and Saturday, but after that the weather is expected to remain clear.
Snowfall in Shimla-Kashmir
Snowfall again occurred in many high-altitude areas including Kashmir and Shimla on Thursday. Shimla recorded 1.6 cm snowfall. According to the Meteorological Department, light to moderate snowfall is expected again in Kashmir on January 22 and 23. The minimum temperature in Srinagar was recorded at 2.5 degrees Celsius below zero on Wednesday night. A yellow alert for cold wave has been issued in the plains and lower areas on Thursday.
Bitter cold in Rajasthan after light rain
The cold has intensified after rain in many areas of Rajasthan in the last two days. Nagaur recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 3.7 degrees Celsius in the state. According to the Meteorological Department, light to moderate rain was recorded at some places in eastern Rajasthan in the last 24 hours till Thursday morning, while the weather remained dry in western Rajasthan.

This morning, dense to very dense fog prevailed at some places in the state. Due to further drop in temperature, many places in eastern Rajasthan experienced cold and very cold days. Due to the effect of fog, the maximum temperature is likely to go 2-4 degrees below normal at some places in the next two days. Western Disturbance is likely to become active in the state around January 22.
