History :
The United Nations General Assembly approved the United Nations Convention Against Corruption on October 31, 2003, as the first step towards tackling corruption. The Assembly also declared December 9 as World Anti-Corruption Day in order to raise awareness about corruption and the Convention’s role in combating and preventing it. It became effective in December 2005.

Importance : 
On this day, every person, and even organizations, vow to not to participate in any kind of corruption. While fighting corruption is difficult, it is not impossible if everyone chooses to withdraw and refuse to engage in corruption. Any act of bribery or misuse of public office that results in the fulfillment of a selfish objective is illegal. This activity can aid generate more job opportunities, improve gender equality, and provide greater access to key services by saying no to Corruption Above all, it can create a system that is equitable to everybody.
