Why did Dwarka sink? Let's understand this mystery
Gandhari's curse and destruction of Yaduvansh
According to the Mahabharata, the story of the sinking of Dwarka is associated with the end of the Yaduvansh. After the Kurukshetra war, when Gandhari was grieving the death of her sons, she held Shri Krishna responsible for the destruction of the Yaduvansh. In anger, she cursed Shri Krishna that just like the Kuru dynasty was destroyed, the Yaduvansh would also be destroyed. Due to the effect of this curse, the Yaduvanshis started quarreling among themselves. One day, there was a drunken fight among the Yaduvanshis in the Prabhas area, and they started killing each other.

Almost the entire dynasty of Yaduvansh was destroyed in this incident. Shri Krishna, who himself witnessed this incident, considered it a part of destiny. After this, he gave up his earthly body.
Dwarka merged in the sea
After the death of Shri Krishna, the fury of the sea increased on Dwarka. After the departure of Shri Krishna, the incarnation of Lord Vishnu, there was no purpose left to save his city. It is said that on the instructions of Shri Krishna, the sea took Dwarka into its lap. It is also believed that the sinking of Dwarka was the result of the deeds of the Yaduvanshis.
According to science
Modern archeological and marine discoveries have added to the mystery of Dwarka. In 1980s, the Archaeological Survey of India discovered the remains of ancient structures under the sea off the coast of Gujarat. These remains, which include walls, pillars, and other constructions, are believed to be about 3,000-3,500 years old. These discoveries match the Dwarka described in the Mahabharata. Scientists believe that Dwarka sank due to natural calamities such as rising sea levels or earthquakes. Some scientists also link it to climate change and marine activities.
Example of natural disaster
The sinking of Dwarka in the sea is a unique mystery from the mythological, historical and scientific point of view. Gandhari's curse, the fall of the Yaduvansh, and natural calamities together led to the city being submerged in the lap of the sea. Even today, the remains of Dwarka remind us of the era of Shri Krishna.
