The Congress MP reposted a post expressing his support for Sarfaraz Khan. He also targeted the BCCI selectors in his post.

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor questioned the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) selectors, saying that players who consistently perform in domestic cricket are being overlooked.

Tharoor also mentioned Prithvi Shaw, Karun Nair, and Ajinkya Rahane.

In one of his posts, he cited the example of Sarfaraz Khan, saying that despite his impressive statistics, the selectors' lack of a place for him was "a kind of injustice."\

Shashi Tharoor lashing out at BCCI selectors...

Tharoor wrote on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), "This is truly astonishing. Sarfaraz Khan's first-class average is over 65. He scored a half-century on his Test debut, 150 in a Test we lost, 92 in the only practice match of the England tour, and a century in the practice match against the Indian Test team, yet he remains out of the selectors' plans."

Tharoor further said that he was pleased to see players like Ajinkya Rahane, Prithvi Shaw, and Karun Nair scoring runs in the Ranji Trophy. Taking aim at the BCCI selectors, he said, "Our selectors are too quick to ignore proven players and bet on 'potential.' Those who have proven themselves time and again deserve respect. Runs scored in domestic cricket should be valued, not just IPL performance. Otherwise, what would be the point of playing Ranji Trophy?"

Summary

Tharoor's statement comes at a time of ongoing debate on social media regarding the Indian team's selection process. Mohammed Shami recently targeted Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar. Gautam Gambhir was also recently targeted by several prominent figures for playing Harshit Rana in all formats while other deserving players were overlooked.
