Why Indian intelligence agencies on alert for Pakistan elections?
Indian intelligence agencies are put on alert as Pakistan announced the date for general elections next year. The President of Pakistan, Arif Alvi on November 2, Thursday announced February 8 as the date for general elections next year.
How can the election in Pakistan affect India?
Elections in every country are not only fought on logic, demands, and promises but also on emotions. For Pakistan, India has always been an emotional topic. It is no surprise that politicians will raise the issue of Kashmir and India during the campaign in Pakistan to emotionally win the public.

Apart from this, the intelligence agencies are suspicious that certain sensitive issues in the Pakistan elections can cause disturbance in India.
According to media reports, a senior official said that an alert has been issued to all intelligence agencies to be on high alert regarding the announcement of elections in Pakistan.
The official said, "During the political campaign, the sensitive issues pertaining to India will be highlighted and it could be used by anti-social elements in the country to disrupt peace in sensitive regions".
Agencies on alert
Agencies such as Military Intelligence, the Intelligence Bureau, and the Research and Analysis Wing along with Intelligence units of bordering states have been asked to be on high alert regarding election campaigning, and the political atmosphere of Pakistan, whose reaction can be seen in the sensitive areas in India.
The agencies have also been keeping a close eye on the activities of the Kashmir-Khalistan desk of ISI. The agencies have also been tracking social media for any skeptical information or communication being mediated.
The Election Commission of Pakistan(ECP) previously announced February 11 as the date for general elections, but the President, Arif Alvi took to Twitter to announce the revised date as 8 February 2024 after discussing with the ECP.
