Why Vivekananda Jayanti is celebrated as National Youth Day?

He lived his life as a religious teacher, author, philosopher, monk, and disciple of Ramkrishna Paramhans. He is credited to bring the Hindu religion a major world religion during the 19th century. He introduced the Hindu Philosophy of Vedanta and Yoga to the Western world. It is believed that Vivekanand’s thoughts on which he lived his life are ideal for the Indian Youth. Therefore Indian Government in 1984 declared 12 January as National Youth day in honor of the contributions of Swami Vivekananda.
This day is celebrated all over India in schools and colleges with youth conventions, speech, music, essay writing, etc.
