WPL Mega Auction 2026: Preparations for the new season of the Women's Premier League (WPL) have begun with a mega auction. The five WPL franchises are competing to acquire the world's best cricketers in New Delhi. A total of 276 players are participating in the auction, but only 73 of them will be considered for their respective fortunes. Many big names are also up for grabs, including star all-rounder Deepti Sharma, who led India to World Cup glory, and former captain Meg Lanning, who led Australia to multiple World Cup titles.

How many Indians and how many foreigners?

A total of 276 players are participating in the mega auction, of which 194 are Indian players. Of these, 52 are capped players, meaning they have played international cricket. There are 142 uncapped players and 82 foreign players, of which 65 are capped and 17 are uncapped.

Highest and lowest base prices

While the highest base price in the IPL is 2 crore rupees, in the WPL it is 50 lakh rupees. This time, players like Deepti Sharma, Alyssa Healy, Meg Lanning, and Sophie Ecclestone have a base price of Rs 50 lakh. The lowest base price in the IPL is Rs 30 lakh, while in the WPL it is Rs 10 lakh. This base price is for uncapped players in both leagues.

Shri Charni becomes Delhi's partner

Shri Charni has been bought by the Delhi team for 1.3 crore rupees.

Shinelle Henry sold for 1.3 crore rupees

West Indies player Shinelle Henry has been bought by the Delhi team. Delhi made Shinelle Henry their partner for 1.3 crore rupees.

Radha Yadav sold for 65 lakh rupees

Radha Yadav will be seen playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore this time. She spent 65 lakh rupees for this.

Prema Rawat at RCB

Prema Rawat was added to the Royal Challengers Bangalore team by a bid of 20 lakh rupees. Prema plays for Uttarakhand in domestic cricket. Amandeep Kaur, Jintimani Kalita, S. Yashashree, and G. Trisha remained unsold.

Sanskriti Gupta Finds a Buyer

South African player Nadine de Klerk has been bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore. Royal Challengers Bangalore made her a part of their team for 65 lakh rupees.

Who has how much money?

This time, all five teams have a total budget of Rs 41.1 crore for the auction. UP Warriors have the highest budget of Rs 14.50 crore. Gujarat Giants have Rs 9 crore, and Royal Challengers Bangalore have Rs 6.15 crore. Mumbai Indians (5.75 crore) and Delhi Capitals (5.70 crore) are at the bottom.

Uncapped Spinners

Prakashika Naik, Bharti Rawal, Priyanka Kaushal, Parunika Sisodia, and Jagravi Pawar were among the uncapped spinners, but all of them remained unsold.

Uncapped Bowlers

Nandini Sharma, Happy Kumari, Shabnam Shakeel, Millie Illingworth, and Komalpreet Kaur remained unsold.

Uncapped Wicketkeepers

The list of uncapped wicketkeepers included Shipra Giri, Mamta Madiwala, Khushi Bhatia, Pratyusha Kumar, and Nandini Kashyap. All of these players remained unsold.

Summary

The WPL began in 2023, and prior to that, a player auction was held. Each franchise then purchased one player to form its squad. Then, like the IPL, a mini auction was held for the next two seasons. Now that the three-season cycle has ended, the BCCI has held a mega auction, in which all five franchises retained a select few players while releasing the rest of the squad.
