Nidhi Dutta denies Bharat Shah's allegations in 'Border' film monetary dispute
The ongoing dispute between filmmaker JP Dutta, known for the 1997 blockbuster Border, and film distributor Bharat Shah, has escalated into a legal battle. Producer Nidhi Dutta, JP Dutta's daughter, has firmly denied the allegations made against her father, calling them "false and unfounded."
Bharat Shah's Allegations in Legal Notice
Bharat Shah, through his legal representatives Little & Co., accused JP Dutta of violating their settlement agreement by not providing proper financial accounts or sharing the profits from the film Border. Shah stated that repeated requests for the accounts were ignored, prompting him to file a lawsuit against Dutta in the Mumbai City Civil Court.
Nidhi Dutta's Response
In a statement posted on her X account, Nidhi Dutta defended her father and the family's production house, JP Films. She wrote. "The public notice issued in film trade journal/s by Little & Co. (Advocates & Solicitors) on behalf of their clients Bharat Shah and Bina Bharat Shah making accusations against JP Dutta concerning the accounts of the Film Border is false, unfounded, baseless and mischievous in intent aimed at creating public sensationalism. Contrary to what is stated in the notice, it is Bharat Shah who has deliberately failed to abide by the Deed of Settlement. The matter being sub-judice, JP Films considers it appropriate to let the sanctity of the settlement and course of justice to prevail. Matter in Court
Nidhi concluded her statement by saying that the matter is now sub-judice, and they trust the legal system to ensure justice is served. She emphasized the importance of letting the settlement's sanctity and the legal process take its course.
