In the ongoing NIDJAM 2024 at Gujarat University grounds in Ahmedabad, Kinjal Thakor from Rampura village in Patan, Gujarat, has clinched the gold medal in the Triathlon B category, bringing pride to the state.
Remarkable Achievement at 13 Years Old
At just 13 years old and currently studying in the 9th standard, Kinjal has been actively participating in triathlons for the past four years. Starting in 5th standard, she underwent training at DLSS in Gandhinagar and has been honing her skills at the Nadiad Sports Complex since last year. Despite her parents being farmers in Patan, they wholeheartedly support Kinjal's athletic endeavors.

Kinjal's parents, engaged in farming, not only encourage her sports career but also inspire her to excel. Her dedication to triathlon has been commendable, and her success is a testament to the support and inspiration she receives from her family.

In a conversation with the Gujarat First team, Kinjal expressed the belief that events like NIDJAM are crucial for the future of sports. She sees such platforms as opportunities to groom young athletes and hopes that, like Neeraj Chopra, many talents can emerge and make a mark in the sports world.
Consistent Performance: Kinjal's Second NIDJAM Participation
This marks Kinjal Thakor's second participation in NIDJAM, having previously competed in Bihar Patna last year, where she secured the 8th position. Her recent gold medal triumph in Gujarat adds another feather to her cap.
Surat's Honey Chaudhary Clinches Bronze in Under 14 Triathlon Group-B Category
In the same sporting extravaganza, Surat's Honey Chaudhary secured the bronze medal in the Under 14 Triathlon Group-B category, standing third overall. Honey exhibited exceptional performance in back throw, scoring the highest with 902 points. With four hours of daily practice, he aspires to reach international standards, supported by his parents and the Surat District Athletic Association.
Family Legacy: Honey's Police Officer Father and Athlete Siblings
Honey Chaudhary's family boasts a legacy of athleticism, with his father serving in the police department and achieving success in Triathlon India. His elder sister was an All India University player, and his younger siblings have also excelled in athletics, highlighting the Chaudhary family's sporting prowess.
