NIDJAM 2024: 'The Grand Sports spectacle' in Ahmedabad from February 16 to 18

The National Inter District Junior Athletics Meet (NIDJAM) is set to make history in Ahmedabad, taking place from February 16 to 18. The prestigious event, hosted at the sprawling 300-acre Gujarat University campus, marks the 19th edition of the Athletics Federation of India's flagship event.

NIDJAM not only aims to promote grassroots sports in Gujarat but also serves as a testament to India's capability to host major events. With more than 7,000 athletes participating, the competition includes various sports, including running and long jump. The government's interest in bidding for the 2036 Olympic Games adds a global dimension to this significant sporting event.

Gujarat's Emergence as a Sports Hub

In a recent press conference in Gandhinagar, State Sports Minister Harshbhai Sanghavi highlighted Gujarat's growing prominence in the sports arena. NIDJAM, as a major sports event, provides a crucial platform for the youth of the country. The successful organization of the National Games in Gujarat last year has set the stage for NIDJAM, emphasizing the state's importance in fostering sports development.

Historic Scale of NIDJAM in Gujarat

NIDJAM holds a unique distinction as the world's largest grassroots talent search program. Taking place from February 16 to February 18, this edition sees the participation of over 5,550 players from across the country. The Gujarat University Ground will host a sports skill fair, making this NIDJAM the largest ever organized.

Inauguration by Dignitaries

The inauguration of NIDJAM will be a grand affair with Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Minister of State for Home and Sports Harshbhai Sanghavi at the helm. Notable presence includes female athlete Anju Bobby George. Biometric and age verification will be mandatory for players to participate in the competition, ensuring fair and transparent proceedings.
