On November 15, PM Modi will introduce the PM-PVTG Development Mission for tribal groups
On November 15, which has been observed as Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas for the past three years, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will introduce the PM-PVTG Development Mission, a program designed for the general development of about 28 lakh individuals from Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups.
The mission aims to improve the socioeconomic conditions of the PVTGs by offering basic amenities to their families and habitations, such as safe housing, clean drinking water, improved access to medical care, schooling, and nutrition, road and telecom connectivity, as well as opportunities for sustainable livelihood.
Mission will be launched in Khunti
The initiative will be launched in the Khunti district of Jharkhand following a visit to Ulihatu village, where Bursa Munda was born. According to the government, Mr. Modi will be the first prime minister to visit the village. The first-ever visit by a President to the village was made by President Droupadi Murmu during the Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas celebration last year.
To achieve saturation of flagship government schemes across the nation, the Prime Minister is also expected to launch a "Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra" from Khunti, along with the PM-PVTG mission for PVTG communities living in across 22,000 remote villages throughout 18 States and Union Territories.
According to a government statement, the Yatra will start in the areas of the nation where tribes predominate and work its way across all districts by January 2024. Additionally, it stated that the PM's visit to Jharkhand on November 14 and 15 will coincide with the introduction of numerous other initiatives. This includes launching and planting the cornerstone for projects valued at Rs.7,200 crore in industries like rail, roads, education, coal, petroleum, and natural gas, as well as releasing the fifteenth installment of the PM-KISAN scheme.
The mission is dedicated for boosting Infrastructure in the country
According to Ministry officials, the PM-PVTG Mission is intended to provide essential infrastructure, such as power, water, road connectivity, housing, healthcare, and education, to the 75 PVTG communities residing in isolated villages.
Government representatives state that the program will see the coordinated efforts of nine Ministries implement about eleven interventions in these target villages, such as the PM-Gram Sadak Yojana, PM-Gram Awaas Yojana, Jal Jeevan Mission, and others.
For the past six months, the Ministry of Tribal Affairs sent representatives to PVTG villages across the country to gather information on the urgent needs of these communities, ensuring that the implementation of the program gets attention appropriately.
Focus on the proper implementation of programs
Official sources also state that focused efforts will be undertaken in these PVTG villages to ensure that initiatives like the PM-Jan Arogya Yojana, the PM Matru Vandana Yojana, the PM Poshan, the PM Jan Dhan Yojana, 100% immunization, the Sickle-Cell Elimination Campaign, the TB Elimination Campaign, and others are saturated.
Rs. 24,000 crore budget alloted for the program
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had stated that the government had budgeted Rs.15,000 crore over three years when she announced the PM-PVTG scheme earlier this year. But according to the statement made public on Monday, the government has now set aside Rs. 24,000 crore for the program.

The House Panel on the Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes expressed concerns about the budgeting for the PM-PVTG mission, despite the government's push for it and the fact that the government had planned it without any up-to-date information on the total number of PVTGs in the nation.
