Pariksha Pe Charcha: PM Modi Urges Parents to stop 'Running Commentary' on Students' Performance
Pariksha Pe Charcha: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emphasized the importance of parents avoiding a "running commentary" on their children's academic performance during the seventh edition of 'Pariksha Pe Charcha,' an interactive program aimed at easing exam stress for students.
Addressing the students, PM Modi advised parents against comparing their children's achievements with those of their friends or siblings, stating that such comparisons can negatively impact a child's future. He highlighted the self-imposed pressure students often face, urging a more balanced approach to studying without excessive stress.
During the interaction, the Prime Minister acknowledged the role parents play in exacerbating stress by setting unrealistic expectations, particularly during exam periods. He stressed the need for open and supportive conversations with students rather than resorting to detrimental comparisons.
PM Modi likened the program to an exam for himself, as he fielded questions from students and teachers across the country. He emphasized the importance of building resilience to handle various pressures and encouraged healthy competition in life.

Discussing the teacher-student relationship, PM Modi underscored the crucial role teachers play in alleviating student stress. He emphasized the need for a positive connection between teachers and students, stating that a teacher's role is not merely a job but an opportunity to enhance and empower students' lives.
Pariksha Pe Charcha was Special in 2024
This year's 'Pariksha Pe Charcha' adopted a town hall format at Bharat Mandapam in the national capital, with special guests including two students and a teacher from each State and Union Territory, along with winners of the Kala Utsav. Notably, 100 students from Eklavya Model Residential Schools attended the event for the first time.
Reflecting on the success of the G20 event at the same venue, PM Modi expressed his excitement about discussing the future of India with the country's youth. Before his address, he explored an exhibition showcasing tech innovations by young minds, gaining insights into their solutions for various sectors.
The event, held annually before Board exams, aims to provide exam stress relief and offers valuable advice. Minister of State for Education, Subhas Sarkar, highlighted the event's successful track record over the last six years and noted the massive enthusiasm with 2.26 crore registrations on the MyGov portal for the 7th edition.
