In a startling incident in Amethi district, a man who presented himself as the missing son of a local family for the past 20 years has been exposed as an imposter. The incident unfolded in Kharauli village, Jais police station, raising questions about the authenticity of his claims.

Arrival in Jogi Disguise and Viral Video

About a week ago, a man arrived in the village, portraying himself as a Jogi, claiming to be Rati Pal's missing son who vanished from Delhi two decades ago. The family, emotional at the reunion, captured the moment on video, where the imposter sang hymns. The video soon went viral, garnering attention and sympathy.

Doubts Arise: Demands for Money and Tracking Location

However, suspicions arose when the imposter, now identified as Arun alias Pinku, demanded money from the family for a store. Sensing something amiss, the family contacted him, and he claimed to be in Jharkhand. Suspecting foul play, the family, with the help of the police, traced his location to Gonda.

Exposed as Fraud in Gonda

Upon reaching Gonda, the family, accompanied by the police, found that the imposter had fled the scene. Investigations revealed that the fraud Jogi was identified as Nafees in Tikaria village. This revelation exposed the imposter, and authorities discovered similar instances of fraud in other regions.

Previous Cases of Fraudulent Jogi Targeting Families

Instances of this imposter targeting families of missing children have been reported from various places. Victims recount similar narratives of the imposter claiming to be a missing son and demanding substantial amounts of money for various reasons. Despite complaints, the imposter and his gang remain elusive.

Victims Share Experiences

Victims from Jharkhand and Bihar shared their encounters with the imposter, stating that he approached them with false claims, asking for significant sums of money. The fraudster successfully deceived families by fabricating stories of missing relatives and invoking sympathy.

Police Response and Family's Suspicions

Authorities in Amethi are actively pursuing the case, following a complaint filed by a resident of Kharauli. The imposter, posing as a Jogi, demanded money from the family, leading to suspicions. The family intended to conduct a DNA test to confirm the imposter's identity, but his disappearance and refusal to provide an account number raised doubts about his intentions.

Police officer Ajay Kumar Singh assured that appropriate action is being taken based on the complaint lodged by the concerned resident. Investigations are underway to apprehend the imposter and address the fraudulent activities targeting vulnerable families.
