PM Modi Brunei Visit: The Prime Minister Modi is going to leave for the East Asian country Brunei today. This will be the first Brunei visit of any Indian PM. However Diplomatic relations between the two countries have completed 40 years. Brunei's Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah had invited PM Modi to visit his country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on a two-day visit to Brunei, the purpose of which is to increase relations between the two countries in different areas.
Over the next two days, will be visiting Brunei Darussalam and Singapore. During the various engagements in these nations, the focus will be on further deepening India’s ties with them.

PM Modi will discuss important issues on his visit to Brunei
India's Foreign Ministry had said, that Brunei is a special partner in terms of India's Act East Policy. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to discuss important issues on his visit to Brunei, which also includes detailed discussion on the semiconductor sector. Along with this, India is importing hydrocarbons. while they also discussion on increasing the supply of natural gas. Talking about bilateral trade investment, India has invested $ 270 million in the hydrocarbon sector of Brunei. In the meanwhile not only semiconductor and natural gas but there can also be talks between the two countries on space technology as well as health and the situation of Myanmar.
Talks on increasing maritime security and stability
India wants to counter the growing influence of China in the Indo Pacific by partnering with Southeast Asian countries and Brunei is a sea border country and its northern border is connected to South China. The person whom Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to meet in Brunei is not an ordinary person but a Sultan. He is the 29th Sultan of Brunei.

Bolkiah is first king for the longest time
Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah is also holding the post of Prime Minister of the country since the British left in 1984. After Elizabeth II, Bolkiah is the first king to rule for the longest time. In 2017, he also celebrated Golden Jubilee on ruling the country for 50 years. Brunei is a small country, but the Sultan living in the country is counted among the richest kings along with being the most powerful personality, It is said that till 1980, he was the richest person in the world
