PM Modi flies in indigenously produced Tejas in Bengaluru
Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a thrilling experience on Saturday as he took a sortie on a Tejas fighter aircraft during his visit to the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited site in Bengaluru. The Prime Minister, eager to showcase and support India's indigenous capabilities, shared his exhilarating experience on the social media platform X.
In a post on X, PM Modi expressed his satisfaction, stating,"Successfully completed a sortie on the Tejas. The experience was incredibly enriching, significantly bolstering my confidence in our country's indigenous capabilities, and leaving me with a renewed sense of pride and optimism about our national potential."

The Indian Air Force chief, Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari, oversaw the preparations for this event, ensuring that all aspects of the sortie were meticulously handled. The Tejas aircraft, flown by Indian Air Force test pilot Group Captain Debanjan Mandal, soared through the skies with the Prime Minister on board.
PM Modi's visit to Bengaluru included a comprehensive review of the manufacturing facility, with a specific focus on the Tejas jets. The Indian Air Force had recently issued a tender to the state-owned Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) for the acquisition of 12 advanced Su-30MKI fighter jets.

Defence sources revealed to ANI that the tender was a significant step towards enhancing India's air capabilities. "Recently, a tender has been issued to the HAL for buying the 12 Su-30MKI fighters, which will be manufactured in India by the HAL in partnership with the Russian original equipment manufacturers," they said.
HAL is expected to respond to the tender by next month, providing comprehensive details of the project, including the percentage of indigenous content. This move aligns with the Aatmanirbhar policies of the government, emphasizing self-reliance and boosting the indigenous defense sector. As India continues to advance in aerospace technology, PM Modi's Tejas sortie stands as a testament to the nation's growing confidence in its indigenous capabilities.
