India has achieved a historic milestone at the 2023 Asian Games by securing a remarkable total of 107 medals, marking the highest-ever medal count in the nation's history at this prestigious sporting event. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his heartfelt congratulations to the athletes, emphasizing the significance of this achievement.

In a statement released on Sunday, Prime Minister Modi celebrated the extraordinary success, saying, “What a historic achievement for India at the Asian Games! The entire nation is overjoyed that our incredible athletes have brought home the highest ever total of 107 medals, the best ever performance in the last 60 years."

PM met with the achievers of Asia games today at Dhyanchand Stadium in Delhi. While addressing the achievers the PM said "You have created history". He also gave credit to all the coaches and trainers, physio and other people involves in the whole contingent of Asian games. he further said "I am proud that our 'Nari Shakti' performed very well in the Asian Games. It tells about the capability of the daughters of India. more than half the medals won at Asian Games are wo by female sportspersons."

The PM also asked the athletes to o spread the word about drug addiction and influence the youth to not get influenced to take drugs. He asked them to influence people in their capacity.

He further praised the athletes, highlighting their unwavering determination, relentless spirit, and hard work that has brought pride to the nation.  The PM further said "Their victories have given us moments to remember, inspired us all and have reaffirmed our commitment to excellence,"

India's participation in the Games concluded on Saturday, leaving the tally of 107 medals engraved in the collective memory of the nation until the athletes aim to surpass it at the Aichi-Nagoya, Japan Games in 2026.

Prime Minister Modi also announced his intention to host the Indian contingent of the Asian Games on October 10, where he will have the opportunity to interact with the athletes.

At the close of the Games, China emerged as the leading medal holder with a total of 383 medals (201 gold, 111 silver, 71 bronze). Japan secured the second position with 188 medals (52 gold, 67 silver, 69 bronze), followed by South Korea with 190 medals (42 gold, 59 silver, 89 bronze). India proudly stood fourth with its 107 medals (28 gold, 38 silver, and 41 bronze), while Uzbekistan rounded up the top five with 71 medals (22 gold, 18 silver, 31 bronze).
