PM Modi protected the Indian Flag when it was discovered on the floor at the BRICS Summit, 2023

The Indian flag was protected by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a picture shoot at today's BRICS conference in Johannesburg.

Each country's leader was identified on stage by their respective flag. President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa and Prime Minister Modi may be seen walking into their positions in a video. The leader of the country takes the flag and places it in his jacket pocket.

The signal was picked up by the president of South Africa, who had already crossed his nation's flag. After that, he gave it to a coworker. PM Modi appeared to indicate that he would prefer to keep the flag when the woman offered to take it from him.

The Prime Minister is in South Africa for the BRICS meeting, which brings together South Africa, Brazil, Russia, China, and India.

PM Modi had a bilateral meeting with the president of South Africa earlier today. According to the Prime Minister's office, the two countries "discussed strengthening the India-South Africa partnership in diverse sectors, such as boosting business ties, security, and people-to-people connections."

The Prime Minister is making his third trip to South Africa. The 30th anniversary of India and South Africa's diplomatic ties is also marked by this tour.

There has been no official confirmation of a potential meeting between the Prime Minister and Chinese President Xi Jinping. The Prime Minister's schedule is "still being developed," according to earlier comments from Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra.

While leaving for the summit, the prime minister expressed his hope that all participants would have the chance to "identify future areas of cooperation" during the gathering. He claimed that "BRICS has evolved into a forum for analysing and discussing issues of concern for the Global South."
